Technology

While modern dental technology can never replace the clinical training and experience of your dentist, it makes treatment more comfortable, more predictable and more efficient than ever before.

Our dentists stay on top of the latest developments in dentistry and invest in technology to improve and enhance the quality of care we provide at our Family Dental Group dental clinics in Swansea and New Lambton.

Digital Dental X-Rays and Sensors

Patient safety is our top priority. Digital dental x-rays and sensors reduce radiation emissions by up to 80 per cent over film radiography. Similar to digital photographs, our dentists can manipulate the images, adjusting contrast, exposure and highlights to provide the most accurate image of your tooth and bone.

Digital dental x-rays improve early diagnosis, making early treatment possible, which often saves time and money for our patients.

Rotary Endodontics

Until the introduction of rotary endodontics, performing root canals with manual files was a painstaking process. Titanium rotary instruments efficiently and accurately clear debris and reshape the interior of the root more accurately and with higher success rates.

What our patients notice is less time in the dental chair.

Digital Records

Paper charts relied on charts and x-rays gathered in a paper folder for storage. Paper charts were difficult to compare over time and subject to damage over time. With digital records, your entire dental history is available at our dentists’ fingertips for accurate monitoring over time and comparisons that can reveal even subtle changes to oral health.

Digital Smile Design

Can you imagine your new smile? With Digital Smile Design, you don’t have to. Digital scans, photographs and treatment planning by our dentists will provide you with a picture of your potential new smile. You can compare the outcomes from different treatment options and predict outcomes for veneers, Invisalign clear braces and smile makeovers.

Digital Impressions

No one likes a mouth full of impression paste or drooling on themselves for two minutes while it sets. Digital impressions scan the teeth and bite for accurate 3-D images of teeth used in the creation of teeth whitening trays, occlusal splints, mouthguards, restorations and Invisalign.

CEREC Same-Day Dental Crowns

Why wait for several weeks for your final dental crown when you can have a durable, aesthetic CEREC crown in a single visit to either our New Lambton or Swansea dental clinics?

CEREC uses an in-house milling machine to customise a dental crown that looks and feels great.

Electric Handpieces

Electric handpieces reduce vibrations and the noise associated with their air-driven counterparts. Patients enjoy the quieter, more calming experience and how much faster electric handpieces can complete the procedure.

Panoramic X-Rays

Unlike individual teeth x-rays, a panoramic x-ray captures all of the teeth, jaw joints, sinuses and the jawbone. Particularly useful in planning surgical procedures, panoramic x-rays take a full-mouth image in just a few moments as it revolves around the patient’s head.

Panoramic x-rays also help dentists monitor bone levels, evaluate wisdom teeth and identify certain cysts and tumours.

Intraoral Camera

Have you ever wondered what your dentist sees when he or she looks inside your mouth? With an intraoral camera, our dentists can snap a high-resolution image of a single tooth, fracture or area of the mouth.

Intraoral images are invaluable education tools to explain oral conditions and discuss cosmetic dentistry options.
