Swansea Family Dental

At what age should my kid start going to the dentist?

We recommend dental visits from three years of age unless there are any problems or concerns. We dedicate a lot of time to make sure kids have a great first experience at the dentist and encourage parents to bring them along their check-up and clean appointments in preparation for their first visit.

When children see parents relaxed and receiving care at the dental clinic, they take note that there is nothing to worry about.

At their first visit, we will give children a ride in the chair, demonstrate brushing and flossing and have a look to make sure that their teeth and gums are healthy and developing as expected.

As with adults, every child is different. What one kid can tolerate might send another into a panic. Our team is experienced in reading children’s signals so that we never push them beyond their tolerance level.

Perhaps the most integral aspect of your child’s first visit is the partnership we create with parents and caregivers in looking after their children’s teeth and gums at home.

  • Proper brushing and flossing techniques
  • Products and tools to motivate kids
  • Inspiration to help kids develop healthy habits
  • What to expect with kids’ development over the coming months and years

We look forward to helping you and your children maintain healthy, comfortable smiles. Contact us to book your child’s paediatric dental appointment.
